Second, why don’t you try blogging about your health and related things. Remember, the body has 5 levels of state in regards pain:

-2. pain from dying

-1. pain from being in bad health

0. normal status

+1. pain from health getting better

+2. no pain for feeling better

It’s 02012Jun18 23.36 (11:36PM) and currently I’m listening to “Lesser Heaven” by Brian Eno from his albumSmall Craft on a Milk Sea. The album, at this point, I’m only sort of on board with. This track is gorgeous though and utilizes the same sounds that could be found on the iOS appBloom. I own the album, but the track happens to be on my Brian Eno list in Muse/Pandora.

I may have mentioned this before, but I’m looking forward to someone recreating the Harry Potter movies scene by scene using only Animated GIFs. I’m certain they nearly all exist already on the internet. Also, if there isn’t one, there should be a Harry Potter animated GIF repository on the internet.

Currently I’m hoping to learn a bit about how sound works as far as acoustics, electronics, speakers, etc. As much as I use and work with these things, I really know nothing about them. It’s mostly part of research I’m doing in RE a well designed iPod stand. We’ll start there and maybe it will become more. Ideally it will be flexible for any iPod/Phone/Touch device vertically or horizontally. I’m also strongly trying to apply Dieter Ram’sDesign Ethos. They are:

I have already begun sketches, - but research should be thorough. I’m really just doing this to see if I can apply my Design skills (which are being learned in Visual Communication) to some sort of industrial or cross-media design. So I’m even taking into account cost and efficiency and yadda-yadda. All one step at a time.

My blogs all started as a school blogger. But the more into my studies I get, the more it becomes a summer blog. Go figure.

I’ve actually purchased a blog theme for Tumblr, but I didn’t really like it that much. Hmmm… bad late night purchase! 12:25AM now ~ time for sleep. Tomorrow is the first day of summer. I have a long list of stuff to do that by the end of the summer I’ll be saying, “OMFG what happened? Why did I not do a single damn thing?!”

I’m fortunate for one thing (well besides everything else): “…Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.”

OK… so it’s pretty common that people say they want to keep their blog updated. I have a lot of blogs, none of which I update. I think this is going to be my mainstay (along with my record label website and accompanying music project website.

I’m really really really disgusted with the over information being provided out there. Some true, some not. Some true from one point of view and, honestly, I’m too trusting of the information. I’m not too naive to think there isn’t an opposing view and that the reality is likely somewhere in between - but its a needless waste of my brain to get caught up in the idea of it in the first place. Same goes for nearly everything else on the internet. Tumblr is a terrible waste of time, everyone knows that. You could practically recompose the entire Harry Potter series of movies from the amount of HP animated gifs that come from Tumblr alone.

What’s more, I don’t give a shit about news. I mean, I’m more than happy to sit down a few times a week and watch the local or even a little CNN in the PM. But the shit that is in the news commonly (during the average day or whenever there is real news downtime) is a waste of time to even read a headline for. I only get frustrated over it anyways. I don’t need the inside scoop on Keith Olbermann’s firing or Whitney Houston’s death or what Christians are saying or Atheists are saying just because it happens to be around, say, Easter or Christmas. Sure, sure. ”Don’t read it.” Right? Well, just seeing that it exists is taxing enough. I don’t claim to be able to back this up, but I guarantee that it’s a psychological fact that just knowing it’s there and thinking about it has a negative effect. … Which brings me to another point about the news: It’s only news if it’s negative. There is the occasional oddity like the Miner’s in South America that were all saved last year (or two years ago??? When was that”?). But who are we kidding to think good news is news (or exists?).

I’m more interested in staying positive. I don’t need to see every cool or funny video out there that someone is putting together that could potentially blow my mind. I don’t need to be part of some community - local or not. I don’t need a network of friends to be social. If I have real tangible time to be social, I should be doing it in real life with the few friends I have…. In fact, the only positive thing I can think of from the internet: Recipes and occasionally instructions. Music sharing? Sure, but there’s still a lot of B.S. attached to the industry. As a designer it’s great to see inspiring stuff online (which I’m doomed to be interlocked with as a result of being…). But there’s also too much of it and, really, a lot of it’s the same stuff in a different way. The only reason they teach art and design in schools is because it has a method. In both art and design you are learning history with it’s many methods. But what you’re supposed to be doing as a designer or artist is scouring the frontier for what’s new. Otherwise you’re just doing it for yourself (which obviously is perfectly acceptable). But you can’t make money that way.

And I laugh at shit all the time on the internet. There’s new funny shit out there, for sure. But I don’t think that’s really worth it when you can laugh with friends too.

That’s an incredibly important link to follow. That study from the 70’s is bang on. You should be able to follow where those lines are peaking and relate it to the internet and technology. I think this justifies my feelings.

But I’m still here, online. But maybe being more responsible than I have been. Setting an example, I think. The generation before me - men and women in their 30’s and getting to their 40’s now (I’m 29) - they’re all about being the Google generation. They’re all about taking the remains of the internet boom in the 90’s and saying, “We can do new stuff with this.” ”We like wearing jeans and t-shirts and working in fun offices and not being so boring like the generations before us in the industry.” ”I’m going to check in at every location I go to. I’m going to be social online. I’m going to design apps for…” STFU!!!!!! You’re cool, we get it. You’re mixing responsible and cool. There’s only one problem.

No one cares except you.

OK. Your interwebs are cool with some really great ideas that, no doubt, you brainstormed over long awesome non-home cooked meal nights full of culture and looking at a pizza box or chopsticks and trying to see your inspiration or logo or… trying to be the next Steve Jobs. Trying to “make things better” but knowing at least subconsciously that you were also trying to make millions. Don’t lie. You were. You wanted to be able to work in a cool office you could skate board through, an office full of fun old star wars toys and shit and be able to go to the gym or eat out every day in the hip city. An office you could ride to work to on your state of the art bike from your apartment designed like it came from Dwell magazine (or maybe Apartment Therapy’s best). Everything you do is with the idea that “it would be cool to…”.

We get it. You’re the pioneers of whatever the world is now.

But there are the disaffected youth out there. The disaffected youth that I always thought were … you know… according to their reputation and attitude. The fact is though, I think they’re disaffected because they will become the ones who end up being responsible. They may take the long way ‘round…. but I think they will look back and say, “Fuck cool.” ”Do it to do it.” ”Do it for altruism.” ”Do it for being human.”

Despite the fact that I have little more to say about them; I think this is where real humanism will rise. I think it will spread from the mid teens now to the younger and younger. They will get over their little fads and say… “Let’s be responsible for us.”

And “us” will be humanity.

I need a little help from Adobe to swap my Design Premium suite from Windows to Mac. Unfortunately the wait time is insane. Maybe they just took a lunch? One thing I will say is that their online/chat CS blows. They can never help me with anything and always refer me to the CS tele.

I just saw this blogged. It’s a nice thought. But I might recommend being responsible, shaping your existing life to the best of your abilities, and do something that’s not giving people bad advice.

This sign doesnt mention anything about realities of not being employed, not actually being perfectly matched to anyone, considering the lives of those around you and your impact on them, or the overall concept of not being able to do what ever you want to however you want to. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.
